Love Layout, Gypsy Files

Good morning crafting friends,

I am posting this project as I was the Guest Designer at The Bug Bytes Blog.

My project today was completed using the following cartridges:
Bloom
Love Struck 2010
Sweethearts
Accent Essentials

I also used my Gypsy.
Here is a picture of the complete layout.

I used my Gypsy to cut the heart just the right size.
I used my Gypsy and Bloom to cut out the Medallion.
I used my Gypsy and Sweethearts to weld and cut out the love with the flourish.
I used my Gypsy and Accent Essentials for the Scalloped Border Strip.
I used my Gypsy with the Bloom cartridge to create the rose petals. I welded one of the images on the bloom cartridge into a triangle shaped petal.

Here is the Keys used to find the “petal” in its singular form.
To create the rose, I simply staggered and layered the petals. I did use some Glimmer Mist to add some shimmer to them as well as make the paper more pliable. This is so that you can shape the petals.

Well that’s my project for today. I hope you have enjoyed it. I want to thank Pam and all the Bug Bytes girls for letting be a part of such a wonderfully talented team of crafters :-).

CWC C-15 Challenge–Shadow

Good afternoon friends,

It’s another Wonderful Wednesday over at CookingWithCricut.com. It’s Challenge Day! So in honor of Ground Hogs Day, the team decided to make the challenge theme:

SHADOW!

So be sure to head over and complete a NEW project with a shadow! Either shadowed letters, embellishments, etc. Anything that has a “shadow” Some additional reminders:

So this is what I came up with. I made this layout with a new cutting file set that I will be releasing very soon. It features these adorable little Ground Hogs, flowers and title.

Best Friends Layout

Here is a layout I made with my daughter and her puppy in mind.

I created this layout using my Cricut Expression, my Gypsy and several cartridges.

Here is a close up of the cute little bear and puppy dog paper piecings.
The bear was made with the following cartridges.

George and Basic Shapes
Everyday Paper Dolls
Animal Kingdom
Preserves

I used my Gypsy to re-size and skew some of the shapes.
The puppy dog was made with the following cartridges.

I again used my Gypsy to resize and skew some of the shapes.

I used the following cartridges for the flowers and leaves.

50 States
Walk In My Garden

I used my Gypsy to size the flowers into two different sizes. I Glimmer Misted the flowers and then inked them with some Brown ink. I curled them to add dimension. I inked the leaves and then added some stickles for the leaf veins as well as the centers of the flowers. Sorry my photos don’t show the nice soft shimmer the Glimmer Mist adds to the flowers.

Here is a shot of the rolled roses flowers. These flowers were also cut from my Gypsy and the 50 States Cartridge. Like the other flowers, they all started out as plain white cardstock. I then glimmer misted them and with these, I just cut a slit at the end of the original Cricut flower so they could roll.

Here is a close up of the border I created using my Gypsy and the Cake Basics Cartridge. I welded the border to create an almost 12” border.

The title “Best Friends” was cut from Hello Kitty Font Cartridge.

The photo corners were from Picturesque.

I plan to put pictures of my daughter when she was younger on here with her puppy. What a gift this dog has been for her….and me. God is certainly so gracious to allow us to have such wonderful companions in life.

FCCB–PIO-CWC Challenges And Giveaway

Good morning everyone!

Hope your new year is off with a great start! Mine has been a bit challenging with some on going computer issues….BUT this I know…..ALL things work together for the good of those that love HIM. So I know that in spite of it all, The Lord has a plan and a purpose for everything we encounter!

Here is my project for a couple of design teams that I am on. Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog or FCCB as it is affectionately known in blog land, Pile It On or PIO and CWC or Cooking With Cricut.

When I first started actively blogging back in April, I discovered this whole challenge world - thing. I didn’t know it even existed! So I threw my hat into the ring when there were some design team calls and much to my great joy…I got picked

So Here is my project for today!

I made this card using a digital stamp that I created and colored it in with my Copic Markers. I then outlined the snowgirls with a bit of stickles.
I used the Winter Lace Cartridge to cut out the snowflakes. The smaller ones I cut at 1” and the larger ones were 1.25 and 1.5 inches.

The challenge at FCCB this week was to make a project with snow or snowflakes on it.

The challenge at PIO was make a project with something that is brand spankin’ new. So the digi image and the Winter Lace cartridge are both two new things :-)

CWC Challenge #11–The Real Meaning of Christmas

Good morning everyone,
Here is my project for today’s challenge at CookingWithCricut.com. I actually made this layout a while back, but I had to bring it back from the archives, because it is one of my favorite layouts of ALL TIME….and boy have I done a lot of layouts. It all came from my daughter. When we were coming home from Church, she had a sticky candy cane in one hand and a little piece of paper in the other. She asked me to hold the paper while she kept the candy cane….which was fine by me, because she was already a sticky mess! When I took the paper and looked at it, it had this little story written on it. It immediately got my wheels spinning! So I tucked it away until it was time to make a layout!

Here is a close up of the pocket with the story. The pocket holds a removable photo mat that was finished on both sides for extra photos.

Here is a close up of the little candy maker. When my kids saw him, they lamented that he looked like Jepedo from Pinocchio :-)

The spilled milk and snatched cookies reminded me so much of my not-so little boy when he used to leave milk and cookies for Santa :-) The glass was made from a transparency sheet and inked around the edges so you could see it.

So here is my project.

I used the Bear with Blueberry Pie cutting file from Page-Kits.com and I used the Pies cutting file set too. For the little pie in the heart. I used an MS border punch for the little cupcake border and an EK punch for the photo corners on the mat. I was a little behind so believe it or not, I whipped this layout together in just over an hour :-) I will go back later and add some more details, like….STICKLES got to bling it up somehow!

FCCB Challenge #35

Good morning everyone,

Hope you are ready for a FANTABULOUS WEEK!

To kick things off, here is my project for this week’s Fantabulous Cricut Challenge. Our assignment was to use the color green and to use a circle shape in our project.

So here is my take...

I made this one page layout using the following supplies:

Cricut Cartridge: Thanksgiving. I cut the Harvest, Blessings and holly-leafy type flourishes from this cartridge. I actually cut the titles and the leaves (top layer) of the flourish in regular white cardstock. I then covered them with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist to give them that goldish-green tint. The pictures just don’t do that justice. It is really pretty in person…..Especially because I don’t really care for that color green….but it worked :-) So the green is obvious. As far as the circle shape…Well there are a lot of little circles…in the lace borders, the paisley printed paper and then the jewels. Not obvious, but none the less there :-)

These are just a couple of shots trying to show the gold to green shimmer that the glimmer mist gave these die cuts. Super pretty.

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #33

Good morning everyone!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I am posting my project today for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog (FCCB). This week’s challenge was…Halloween! While I personally don’t celebrate halloween, I do pass out candy. I love to see the little children in their non-scary costumes. So my project is inspired by that.

Here is a view of my entire layout. The “Sweets” letters were from my Alphalicious Cartridge and the candies and candy apple were all from the October 31st cartridge. The circular border was an EK Success border punch.

The cute little bear is a cut file that I designed. He is available at Page-Kits.com as both a cutting file and a digital stamp. He will also be on a Kit that will be released later this week.

Pile It On Challenge #42

Good afternoon Everyone,

I wanted to do a quick post on this week’s DT Pile It On Challenge. This week our assignment was to use the colors: Red, Green and White and Then Something Soft. So to make my card, I used the QuicKutz Stocking Die. I cut the stockings out in Red, Blue and Green and Then I used Felt for the tops of the stockings….that is my something soft.

I then colored the bear image with a combination of my printer and Copic Markers. I finished off the stamp with a little stickles on the bears pom poms and the band of his cap.

Good morning my Fantabulous Friday Friends!!!,

Welcome to another Fantabulous Friday! Today I am changing gears just a bit. For the last two weeks we have been focusing on a particular cartridge. But today, I am going to post on a particular “image” or cut. I was working on a project with a Fall-Halloween theme. I was looking for a Crow.

So of course I went to my Gypsy to do a search of what cuts were available. So here is what I came up with.

While both of these are fine, neither was what I was looking for…so the hunt was on! I began doing a search on the net. I was looking for an SVG file that I could use to cut with my Cricut. For those of you that are unfamiliar with what an SVG is: it is a file format that allows you to use your Cricut along with a third party software to cut the file-die cut. I found a couple of freebies.

This project which features a FREE set from Deena Rutter has a couple of crows in it.

You can go HERE to download this set. While this was also really nice, it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for. And then Kristal, one of my fellow Cooking With Cricut DT members designed this cute little set.

I then decided to work on making some up: I made this cutting file set: I called it the Crow Trio. You can get details and purchase it at Page-Kits.com: CLICK HERE

And then I made this cutting file set, I called this one Crows, Silly Crows. You can purchase this set at Page-Kits.com as well: CLICK HERE

Then I made this set: This one I called, Cream of the Crop-Crows. This one isn’t available for sale….yet. But hopefully it will be processed in the next few days. You can check out the link for it though: HERE

So while on my Crow making frenzy, I made this little crow using my Cricut and some of the Cricut cuts (sorry, I don’t have a pattern for him…yet).

I did make this kit with some of the Cream of the Crop Crows. It is available in limited quantity at Page-Kits.com: HERE

Last but not least, I made this quick and cute little crow.

I am so glad to be back to some regular posting....let's say a prayer and keep our fingers crossed that my computer will continue to co-operate :-)

Okay, so now on to today's projects and FREE cutting file and digi stamp. Here is a layout I made a couple of years ago. It was pretty clean and straightforward. I used some Basic Grey patterned paper that was so pretty.

Here is a closeup of the rose. The BG paper inspired me to create this wonderful rose piecing. I cut all the pieces of the rose (except the leaves) out of white cardstock. I then inked and chalked the "inner" pieces. I left the background part completely white. I then assembled the rose and used some Stickles to "Outline" the rose.

Now here is the same rose, converted into a Digital Stamp.

I used my Copic markers to color the stamp in and then used some Stickles to Outline it. I used a couple of EK punches for the corners and flourishes and I used my Cricut for the dimensional flower. If you would like to know more about the dimensional flower, just go to yesterday's Fantabulous Friday post and get the info....you can go HERE The digital stamp set comes in pdf with four different sentiments. It also has the plain rose (no sentiment) in jpg format. The cutting file comes in the following formats: AI, DXF, GSD, MTC, KNK, SVG, SCUT(scal 2.0), WPC and WPC 14.

Fantabulous Friday #31, FREE Cutting & Digi Files

Good morning everyone! It's another FANTABULOUS FRIDAY!!!! I am the new "Girl Friday" over at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog (FCCB). That means each Friday I will be "Exploring" a cartridge. I will showcase some of the wonderful cuts and or cutting files that we can use to make some FANTABULOUS projects. So without further adieu...this weeks lucky cartridge is.... Mr. Classmate himself.... 50 States Yes, this studious little cartridge has been around for quite some time. I must admit, if he had been released this year with all the other TONS of Cartridges, he probably would have been "kicked to the curb". He was definitely marketed to the education community. And the packaging made it a little hard to think beyond the 50 states shapes, flags and the educational needs he would meet. BUT...if you look beyond all that, he has some little gems stored within the "prongs" of his case. Today I am not focusing on anything but the FLOWERS! Yep that's right....the FLOWERS. So here are a few...not 50, just a few flowers I was able to come up with by working with this little fellow. The Yellow Flower This is the "Kansas" Flower on Page 28.I cut him in 4 different layers and at 4 different sizes. I then cut "slits" to make the individual petals. I then "Fluffed" the petals up to give it the dimension.This flower looks a bit like a Carnation or it could be a sunflower. Check out the tutorial on this flower HERE

The Pink Flower This is the "North Dakota" flower on page 46. I cut this flower in 4 layers in 3 different sizes. I cut "slits" so the petals would be a little more loose. To me this one looks like a rose. Check out the tutorial on this flower HERE.

The Purple Rolled Flower This is the "Ohio" flower on page 47. After cutting this flower out, I cut a slit to "open" up the flower. I then glimmer misted it and rolled it. These are much like all the other "rolled" or "lollipop" flowers that have been floating around the net most of this summer....Who knew...they were tucked away all this time in our little cartridge :-) Check out the tutorial on this flower HERE.

The Red Flower This is the "IOWA" flower on page 27 and the center set is the "North Dakota" one. For this one I did use my Gypsy to "hide" the center cutout. But I think you could still achieve this look without doing that. I did, once again, cut the petals "loose" so they would have more play. After glimmer misting, I waited until it was just about dry to "shape and sculpt" the petals. This is just a matter of sitting down and playing with the petals until they look the way you want them to. Crazy thing is: once the glimmer mist is completely dry, the paper gets pretty hard and so these flowers keep their shape really well.

The Orange Flower This is the "Maryland" flower found on page 32. I cut out the flower option that had two cut at the same time, one with a circle cut out and one without. I then once again cut "slits" so the petals would be loose. I then staggered the layers starting with one that had a hole so that the top layer would be a solid. I then curled the petals just before they were dry. The Teal Flower

This last beauty is the "North Carolina" flower found on page 45. For this one, I simply cut 3 flowers two at 6" and one at 5". I then glimmer misted and then layered them by "mirroring" them. I then "shaped" the flowers just before the petals were dry to give it dimension. I finally layered the 3 centers and "fluffed" them and added a touch of sparkle to it.

Yep...that's right, all these beauties were created with the 50 States Cartridge. I don't have them on any projects yet, but they are now a part of my flower stash and ready to go at a moments notice :-)

BONUS PROJECT

Here is a card I made last year. I used the same techniques for this flower as I did for the others. With this one though, I did three different colors of glimmer mist to give the flower petals a more varigated look.

My CWCDT Project

Good morning everyone, Here is my project for the 1st challenge over at Cooking With Cricut. The challenge-theme was "Love" anything you love or that makes your heart skip a beat. With it being sweetest day this Saturday, I thought I would make a card for my DH. He is such a wonderful man. I am so blessed to be his wife. I used the "Bears and Wine Bottle" Digital Stamp from Page-Kits.com. You can check it out: HERE I used an MS border punch for the heart border. I then used my red stickles to "dot" the border. Here is an angled view to show the dimension. I cut out the design after I colored it with my Copic Markers. I used pop dots to give it some dimension. Father's Day Card & Digi Stamp

Hello Crafters!

Hope you're having a Wonderful Wednesday! Thanks for stopping by to get some inspiration!

I am sharing a quick card I made. Perfect for Father's Day. I think I will be giving this one to my brother.

The branch die cut is from the Serenade Cricut Cartridge. I cut it in brown cardstock and then put some Cinnamon Stickles on it. I designed the sentiment. That is the FREE digi stamp I referred to. For the rest of the card, I cuttlebugged the tan paper, ink distressed it. You really can't see in the picture but I inked the brown and moss paper edges with some gold. That gave it some nice character. Anyway, hope you like it. Quick, easy and ready to roll!
